“Our Town” – Drama
Directed by Weldon Ledbetter
February 7 – 16, 2014
Box Office opens February 3
Described by Edward Albee as “…the greatest American play ever written,” Our Town explores the relationship between two young small town neighbors, George Gibbs and Emily Webb, whose childhood friendship blossoms into romance, and then culminates in marriage. When Emily loses her life in childbirth, the circle of life portrayed in each of the three acts of Our Town–growing up, adulthood, and death–is fully realized. This timeless drama of life in the mythical village of Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire, has become an American classic with universal appeal. Thornton Wilder’s most frequently performed play, Our Town appeared on Broadway in 1938 to wide acclaim, and won the Pulitzer Prize.
“Indeed the play’s success across cultural borders around the world attests to its being something much greater than an American play: it is a play that captures the universal experience of being alive.”
–Donald Margulies in the Foreword to Our Town.

Join this talented young cast of 23 students ranging from 7 to 17 in premiering a new play for the holiday season. The story is set in the main office (on cloud #4) of Guardian Central, where angels receive their daily missions to watch over those on earth in need of protection. It takes all types of Angels to man the office, from the meek desk angels to the brave guardians protecting everyone from race car drivers to mountain climbers. Everything is running smoothly until a promotion upsets the delicate balance and the new supervisor gets angels all mixed up. A sweet, funny story well suited to the whole family!
