Macon Little Theatre presents “The Honky Tonk Angels” a musical comedy by Ted Swindley, the author of the hit “Always Patsy Cline”. Join us on a hilarious, rollicking and touching journey that celebrates the voices of women in country music. Experience Stand by Your Man, Coal Miner’s Daughter, Delta Dawn, 9 to 5, Harper Valley PTA, I Will Always Love You and many other great songs through the voices of the three country gals who meet on a bus on their way to Nashville to follow the “music city dream” of becoming a star. Romance, husband problems, independence and a little gospel thrown in for good measure result in a thrilling theatrical mixture of laughter, friendship and maybe a tear or two.

Here are some instructions about what to do next!
1) Please reply whether you wish to accept or decline the role you have been offered by
emailing to shaynie@academyoftheperformingarts.com
2) Plan to attend the initial cast meeting/rehearsal on Friday, May 27th @ 7 p.m. where you
will receive a script, schedule, costume information and write your bio for the program.
3) Directions to our rehearsal location: Start as though you are leaving Macon Little Theatre’s
driveway by taking a RIGHT onto Vineville Avenue (heading toward downtown) go straight through the 1st traffic light which is the intersections of Forest Hill, Park and Vineville Avenue. Continue to the 2nd traffic light, which is the intersection of Brookdale and Vineville. Turn RIGHT onto Brookdale Avenue. You will cross over a railroad track and see a shopping strip mall on your left with a large sign PAYNE CITY STATION. Turn LEFT into the shopping mall parking lot – our school is at the far end.

A Bad Year for Tomatoes

A cast of zany eccentrics will serve up liberal helpings of broad comedy spiced with farce and slapstick in “A Bad Year for Tomatoes”.

Catherine Kjellstrom plays pivotal character Myra Marlowe, a television actress. Tired of the limelight, Marlowe has retired to a small North Georgia town to write her autobiography. Instead of peace and quiet, she finds herself surrounded by eccentric, nosy neighbors. Next door, there are Cora (Erin Tudzin) and Reba (Alveta Summers) who are annoyingly bubbly and gossipy. Willa Mae (Amy Lines Miller) is equally nosy, and the whole town thinks she’s a witch. Making more unwanted appearances in Marlowe’s living room are Piney (Dan Byrd), a lumberjack with a nasty habit of always overstaying his welcome, and Tom (Michael Stewart), Marlowe’s agent. To discourage her unwelcome visitors, Marlowe invents a crazy sister, Sadie — drawing on her acting skills to pull off the deception. All is well until Marlowe stops her sister act. The neighbors — and the sheriff (Tommy Knight) — think Marlowe murdered Sadie. Needless to say, all is straightened out in the end, but the uproarious doings will keep audiences laughing right up to the final curtain, and then some.

Cast for “A Bad Year for Tomatoes” Chosen

Director Cindy Hill has completed the audition process and assembled a talented cast of veterans and newcomers for Macon Little Theatre’s upcoming production of “A Bad Year for Tomatoes”. The laugh-out-loud comedy was written by John Patrick known for his Broadway hits, The Hasty Heart, The Curious Savage and his stage adaptation of The Teahouse of the August Moon. The cast includes:

Book Signing at Macon Little Theatre

Susan Lindsley author of “Susan Myrick of Gone With The Wind – An Autobiographical Biography” will be at Macon Little Theatre on April 9 and 16 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and April 10 and 17 from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. to sell and sign her book about her aunt, Susan Myrick, who was a technical advisor for “Gone With the Wind.” Using Susan Myrick’s personal diaries which were started in 1938 and letters from her lifetime, her niece and author, Susan Lindsley has woven together the untold story of a remarkable woman who happened to the best friends with Margaret Mitchell.
